8-Channel Multidrive System

The 8-Channel Multidrive System offers users the ability to independently control the depths of eight tightly spaced electrodes over a range of 24mm. Electrodes are configured in a customizable array whose interelectrode spacing may be as close as 190 µm, all within the same guide tube. Intuitive electronic motorized control is provided for all channels. This unique system provides unprecedented recording capabilities to the researcher interested in multichannel recording.
The 8-channel hydraulic system consists of 9 independent, maintenance-free, hydraulic drives coupled by 8 feet (2.4 meters) of tubing to a pair of compact motorized coupling unit. Internal limit switches prevent the overextension of any of the drives. Each electrode channel boasts a range of motion of 12 mm and is capable of micron-level precision. The ninth hydraulic drive, referred to as the Main drive, raises and lowers the entire array by another 12 mm, doubling the system’s range of motion. The innovative and reloadable 8-channel electrode manifold, splays the electrodes comprising the array outward, directing each to a dedicated hydraulic drive.
The 8-Channel Electronic Motorized Controller consists of a standard single channel Electronic Motorized Controller to control the main drive augmented by two 4-channel add on modules for controlling the individual electrodes. The three controllers are tightly integrated via a digital connection to provide seamless control either from your choice of hand held remote controls or by a computer. Separate high visibility depth readouts, enable/disable switches and depth zeroing buttons are provided for every channel.
