FHC’s Communities Education Foundation (CEF) has announced the recipients of their spring 2018 scholarships

The Foundation was created to foster and encourage members of FHC communities to seek post-high school educational opportunities that may include 2- or 4-year undergraduate degrees, vocational programs and graduate studies.  “FHC communities” are defined as

  • FHC employees and their families world-wide;
  • Immediate family members of our customers, vendors, and industry partners;
  • Residents of communities surrounding Bowdoin, Maine;  Greenville/Valle Forge, Pennsylvania;  Bucharest, Romania;  and Medellín, Colombia.

Scholarship recipients for the spring 2018 term were selected based on academic standing and financial need, as well as the content and presentation of the required essays.  The selected students demonstrated an understanding of the value of education in both achieving their personal goals and in supporting their local community.

 For the spring 2018 term, the Foundation distributed a total of $13,000 in scholarships to 16 students. In addition to the traditional CEF scholarships, a $500 grant was awarded to one recipient through the Brian Carter Memorial Scholarship, which requires the student to be pursuing post-secondary studies in photography, machine tool techniques, conservation/wildlife studies, music or aviation.  A full list of scholarship recipients, as well as their hometowns, appears below:
