FHC designs, manufactures, and internationally markets quality products for neuroscience, the study of the brain and nervous system, and neurosurgical research.

Our neuroscience customers are scientists studying at major universities, medical schools, research hospitals, government research institutions, and private laboratories located at pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and major technology-based companies around the world. We endeavor to create a collaborative relationship with our customers and have adopted the term "Needlecraft" to describe the process.

Neurosurgeons use our equipment for intraoperative microelectrode recording and stimulation so as to map the electrical activity of human brain in order to precisely locate dysfunctional areas prior to removing or modifying them. We have established microTargeting
as our trademark for this technology, which recently has found increasing use in the treatment of Parkinson's symptoms and other movement disorders.

Our products are also used for microneurography, the monitoring of human peripheral nerve activity as it relates to neuromuscular function.

Our 70 employees work at our headquarters in Bowdoin, 35 miles north of Portland, Maine. Our facility is in the old Bowdoin Central School which we have renovated and added on a 21,000 Sq. ft. state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. Yet despite our move from the rambling building on the banks of the picturesque Cathance River, we are still tied via a small tributary to the unique Merrymeeting Bay ecosystem, one of the few tidal (up to nine feet!) fresh bodies of water in the world.

Come visit us and experience our special Maine lifestyle. We're always anxious to throw a lobster in the pot or take our visitors to lunch at the Town Landing, the best (and only!) restaurant in town.
