Accelerometer Adapter Unit (AAU)
Catalog Number: 55-21-0-02
The Accelerometer Adapter Unit (AAU) is a stand-alone, battery-powered module designed to interface accelerometer wrist bands with data acquisition systems (e.g., Guideline 4000/Guideline 4000 LP+) via a BNC output jack. Supports up to two 3-axis accelerometers.
Features:
• A stand alone self powered module for interfacing up to two 3-axis accelerometers with any data
acquisition system.
• Compatible with older Axon Guideline 3000 wrist band accelerometers (AX2300-365).
• BNC output jacks for direct connection to analog inputs of the data acquisition systems.
• Active circuitry generates the average of acceleration on all three axes.
• Uses easily replaceable standard 9V batteries which will last for at least 9 hours of continuous use.
• Battery check function to indicate when battery replacement (or recharge) is required.
• Power switch and indicator + X/Y/Z/Scaled switch.
• Compact design for easy storage.
• Rugged construction.
Technical Summary:
• The Accelerometer Adapter Unit is powered by a standard 9V battery located in a compartment on the
bottom of the unit. A low battery LED indicator is located on the front panel and will illuminate to
indicate the battery needs to be replaced.
A1003 ACCELEROMETER ADAPTER UNIT
• The Accelerometer Adapter Unit is capable of handling up to two wrist band accelerometers (FHC#
AX2300-365). The wrist band accelerometer(s) plugs into the clearly labeled front panel input(s) (1
or 2). The BNC outputs are aligned with the input(s) located on the rear of the unit.
• Each accelerometer input has a corresponding rotary switch used to select the desired axis (X,Y,or Z).
The intrinsic accelerometer gain of 0.5V/G will be realized.
• A fourth selection can be found on each rotary selector called “Scaled”. This selection provides the
scaled sum of all three axes. The output transfer function is as follows:
Vout = (VX + VY + VZ) / 3
• The output voltage range is 0-5V centered about 2.5V (zero G).
• 0.5 V/G Acceleration gain.
• Functions with most GP series accelerometers from Crossbow (www.xbow.com).
• Output: 0 – 5V Uni-polar.
• Output impedance: <10k
• Scaled Output generates averaged sum of all three axes.
• Output Bandwidth 1 – 100 kHz.
• Output of 2.5V +/- 10% with no motion.
• Standard 9V battery will power two accelerometers and provide full range output for 9 hours.
