FHC's 4th Annual Red Cross Fundraiser

FHC's 4th Annual Red Cross Fundraiser

FHC’s 4th annual Bowdoin/Bowdoinham Red, White and Blue Summer Fun Festival will be held on Saturday, June 25, and once again this year, proceeds will benefit the Mid Coast Chapter of the American Red Cross. This chapter, which serves 36 local communities, has helped 95 fire victims since January. There is a widespread call for help that will allow the volunteers at the chapter to continue their level of support for people in need; we have pledged to raise at least $7,500.00.

The fundraising event will take place at the Bowdoin Central School (1460 Main Street in Bowdoin) beginning at Noon and continuing until after a spectacular fireworks display at 9:30pm. The afternoon will be filled with games, horse and fire truck rides, a bouncy house and petting zoo, an obstacle course and giant croquet game, a variety of fitness demonstrations, delicious fair food, and much more. This year’s festival will also include an evening 50s and 60s music Sock Hop, complete with poodle skirts and leather jackets, root beer floats, a dance floor and a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume and best couple’s costume.

No admission will be charged at the gate, but donations of non-perishable food items will be appreciated for the Friends Helping Community Food Pantry located in Bowdoin. Tickets to participate in the games and activities may be purchased at a minimal cost. As this annual event becomes bigger, better and more community friendly every year, we are already looking forward to our 2012 festival which will take place in Bowdoinham along the Cathance River.
