FHC Releases STarFix Platform System for Direct Targeting
December 13th 2012
FHC is pleased to announce the release of the STarFix™ Platform System for Direct Targeting. This system centers around the STarFix™ Platform, a single-use, patient customized surgical targeting fixture used in place of a traditional stereotactic frame. The Platform, when used in conjunction with other single-use, MRI compatible devices provided in the system, allows the accurate positioning of a DBS lead or other implant in an MRI environment. This system has been used successfully in implantation of DBS leads in an iMRIS Suite, minimizing the surgical time while maximizing the certainty of ideal lead placement.
The STarFix™ Platform System for Direct Targeting includes use of the WayPoint™ Navigator planning and positioning software. Navigator allows surgeons to create a pre-operative platform plan and then merge that plan with intra-operative MRI images for trajectory verification and CT images for placement confirmation. The Navigator also provides one-click repositioning of the trajectory, allowing positioning adjustments to happen quickly and with minimal surgical disruption.
