FHC Community Education Foundation Announces Fall 2011 Scholarship Criteria

Bowdoin, ME On July 29, 2011, the FHC Community Education Foundation released its fall 2011 scholarship application and instructions for application submission. For the fall 2011 semester, 12 scholarships of $1,000 will be offered to qualified candidates. In the last school year, the FHCCEF awarded 28 scholarships totaling $25,000.

The FHC Community Education Foundation, funded entirely by donations, was created by a group of FHC employees who wanted to see FHCers, their families and related communities benefit from pursuing educational opportunities beyond the high school level. The Foundation Board of includes members of the local educational community as well as FHCers. The Board reviews all applications and selects the most outstanding applicants to receive awards each semester. With the goal of supporting higher education in mind, the FHC Community Education Foundation is committed to awarding scholarships in both the fall and spring semesters of each school year. The funds awarded will be earmarked for books and other school supplies, to help offset the costs of education that are often not addressed by more traditional scholarship programs. Keeping in mind FHC’s commitment to improving our local community, the applicants will all be asked to write an essay focused on one of several topics relating to community service and community involvement. Applications will be judged based on merit, financial need, and the quality of the submitted essay.
