Advanced Microelectrode Recording System Supports High Precision Targeting of Deep Brain Structures
FHC Launches Guideline 4000™ Software Release Version 1.4
Bowdoin, ME, December 11, 2009:
FHC, leading neuroscience product manufacturer, announces an upgrade release for its neurosurgical microelectrode recording (MER) product, the Guideline ™ Neuromodulation Targeting System. The Guideline 4000™ supports microelectrode recording of neural activity and brain stimulation procedures.
“The latest 1.4 release greatly enhances user experience with the Guideline 4000™, creating a highly customizable environment along with new features to simplify setup and use,” described FHC Product Manager, Dr. Jason Moyer.
The new software release expedites operating room setup through user-tailored profiles that save preference settings for equipment, recording, stimulation and display. Factory-specified configurations improve setup efficiency and facilitate troubleshooting.
Surgical teams will now be able to review and compare electrode passes at a glance with the “raster” function. New in version 1.4, this function enables side-by-side, color-coded comparisons of recorded neural activity snapshots versus depth for each track, aiding in the placement of depth electrodes.

An optional pre-amp hardware update supports separate or simultaneous display of local field potentials (LFP) and high-frequency spike data. Straightforward data export to disk for analysis in Matlab and other applications aids basic research in clinical settings.
Headquartered in Bowdoin, ME, FHC develops and manufactures products for functional neurosurgery in collaboration with its client and business partners. In operation nearly 40 years, FHC is dedicated to serving neuroscience with custom solutions for research and clinical applications. The company technical support team accommodates clients 24/7.
