Community Involvement

Whether it’s leading fundraising efforts or contributing directly, FHC’s Community Action Team (CAT) benefits agencies, emergency services, organizations, and schools in and around Bowdoin, Maine, where we have our headquarters and production facilities.

Along with many others like them, we’re proud to support the following organizations and initiatives:

  • American Red Cross
  • Boy Scouts of America
  • Cathance River Education Alliance (CREA)
  • Dempsey Challenge
  • MS Society
  • Riverview Foundation
  • St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
  • Trek Across Maine
  • United Way

We also share our full-service child care and our fitness centers with people in the community, and we provide financial assistance to those community members who are in need.

CEF Scholarship

A charitable nonprofit arm of FHC, the Community Education Foundation (CEF) supports students who aspire to higher education, aiding them according to financial need, academic merit, and community involvement.

FHC’s Community Education Foundation Scholarship reflects our commitment to students enrolled in graduate, undergraduate, and certificate programs. Each academic semester the CEF board members invite employees, customers, vendors, and neighbors of FHC to participate in a blind review of scholarship application material. Upon, completion of this review awards are made to successful applicants. The CEF is intended as unrestricted support.

Who We Are:

The FHC Community Education Foundation was created to foster and encourage members of the FHC extended family and community to seek post high school educational opportunities that may include 2- or 4-year undergraduate degrees, vocational programs and graduate studies. The “FHC extended family” is defined as FHC employees and their families world-wide, the residents of surrounding campus locations in Bowdoin, Maine and Greenville, Pennsylvania, as well as immediate family members of our vendors and customers. “Community” is defined as any resident of the Midcoast Maine area.
